You wake up to the sound of rustling in your closet. Grumbling, you look over at your alarm clock, and the bright lights indicate that it's (color: "red")[12:56 AM]. You groan, turning on the lamp (color: "yellow") [on your bedside table, and sitting up to survey the room. Nothing looks out of the ordinary. Your bookcase stands tall and proud in the corner of the room, displaying classics like Wuthering Heights and Little Women that you haven't bothered to open. Your computer desk sits next to the bookcase, and your computer rests neatly on top of it. There are pictures on the wall, family photos, pictures of your Samoyed puppy (color: "white") [Snowball], and pictures of you with your boyfriend. You're brought back to reality by another strange sound coming from the closet.
(color: "white")[Snowball's] ears perk up, as she looks up from her dog bed on the floor beside yours. Yawning, she stretches her paws and gets up, jumping on top of you and panting excitedly. You give her a few belly rubs before getting up and gently placing her back on the dog bed. She yawns once more, before slowly falling asleep. Still bothered by the noise, you decide to] [[Go Back to Sleep]], [[Get Up to Investigate]], or [[Leave the Room and Avoid the Closet]].(color: "yellow") [Remembering that you have a physics final tomorrow, you turn the lamp off] and get back in bed, trying to go back to sleep, but the rustling continues. Frustrated, you try to block out the sound with one of the pillows on your bed, but the sound gets louder, and eventually you get up, mumbling Newton's laws angrily to yourself.
You get off of your bed and cross the carpet, making a full 360 around the room and sighing. (text-style: "fade-in-out") [Nothing strange]. Having given up on getting enough sleep for the physics final you know you're destined to fail anyway, you decide to investigate either the [[Closet]], [[Your Bookcase]] or the [[Desk Beside Your Bed]].You get up and move towards the closet, where the sound seems to be coming from. Before you pull the closet door aside, something small and grey brushes against your leg. Startled, you jump back and move away, grabbing your glasses from the bedside table to observe the strange (color: "grey") [grey] object. Upon further inspection, you find out that it was just a dust ball.
Relieved, you move back towards the bed, but the closet door remains untouched, and the sounds have not gone away. Your professor will not be happy when she finds out that you got no sleep for the final, but you've given up on getting sleep now. You decide that you want to either [[Investigate the Noises]] or [[Go Wash Your Face in the Restroom]].You decide to go to another room and try to sleep there. Walking out of your room, you close the door gently behind you and try not to disturb Snowball's peaceful slumber. You tiptoe down the stairs, trying not to make the stairs creak. The last time you were caught awake at 1 AM your parents were (text-style: "shadow") [NOT] very happy with you.
You eventually reach the bottom of the stairs and walk towards the living room, careful to not step on the floorboards that have been known to creak. sitting on the couch, you grab the comforter and lay a pillow down, making yourself comfortable on the couch. You thought you could finally get some rest, but you heard the sound again, this time even louder than before. You're amazed that your parents and Snowball haven't heard this sound yet. You finally decide that you want to [[Investigate the Noises]].Double-click this passage to edit it.Double-click this passage to edit it.Double-click this passage to edit it.Double-click this passage to edit it.You walk over to your bookcase, and open the curtains next to it, basking in the moonlight. Snowball looks up from her dog bed, yawning groggily. You coo and pick her up, rubbing her belly and letting her lick your face. You kiss her head and rock her back and forth, letting her fall asleep in your arms. You walk over to the bookcase, puppy in your arms. There's nothing suspicious about the bookcase, just some classics you've been assigned to read in your AP English class. Titles like Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, and The Catcher in the Rye flash their covers at you from the first row of the shelf, and you roll your eyes. Normally you like to read, but these books are just too much.
A shiny cover catches your eye, and your gaze moves to the books on the second and third row. Some of your favorite titles like Kafka on the Shore, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower seem to smile back at you. Laughing quietly to yourself for even considering that something was up with the bookshelf, you continue to rock Snowball in your arms and move away from the bookshelf. You decide that you want to investigate the [[Desk Beside Your Bed]]
